Elementary Education

We consider that in the age of AI where there are lesser and lesser work places it is necessary to develop creative mind and sensitivity that makes possible cooperation and coordination with others. To achieve it students will learn essence of masterpieces, scientific discoveries, biographies of great person, mathematical thinking and how and why social system works through oral reading and discussion.
Students will read such works as Hanabiradukusi, Aoi Ito, Aru Jamuya no hanasi, Sally san no Te, Mikazukimurano Kuroneko, Daremosiranai Jikan, Akai Rosoku to Ningyo, Yanase Takashi Marchen Ehon, Jyunino Shinjyu, Blanco no Mukohde, Sayonara Iceman, Uchu Kaijin, Koizumi Yakumo shu, Unno Juzo shu, Akutagawa Ryunosuke shu, and Miyazawa Kenji shu.
Through reading essence of biographies and original materials, students will enhance their interests in science and society and learn what moves history and the power of personality in making history.
In English class we use such text as Crown Plus, Treasure and materials on a wide variety of topics, making students with advanced level.
In math class students touches interesting problems they encounter in every day life, and by understanding it mathematically, they will become fond of mathematics.


 

 

Junior High School Level

It is expected that in the coming AI era there will be less and less work places and therefore it is necessary to educate the person who is able to find the essence of a problem and give solutions to it by his or her intellectual ability and sensitive mind.
With the advancement of globalization where growing number of people work together creating values across the boundaries of nation states,
English is a must as the communication tool. Some students attending private six-year junior high and high school study 12th grade textbook in the 9th grade.
Students of OIS will be able to understand basic high school level English in one year or so, using such textbooks as Crown Plus,
Treasure, collections of basic sentences and previous entrance examinations (basic level) for Universities. Students are requested to understand as they read, not from the end of the sentence.
For mathematics we encourage students to make mathematical solutions to the problem they encounter in daily life.
We understand geometry helps us to understand the world clearly and gives training for thinking logically and progressively.
To cultivate sensitive mind and enhance interest in humanity, science and society, students will read such works as Aoi Ito, Yumeno Hate , Green Requiem, Dai Yon Kampyoki, Akai Rosoku to Ningyo, Jyunino Shinjyu, Blanco no Mukohde, Taketori Monogatari, Ujishui Monogatari and Akutagawa Ryunosuke shu, Souzou heno Hiyaku, Nippon no Gaiko, Kokusairengo. Through these reading we expect students will learn what moves history and the power of personality.

 


 

 

High School Level

Concerning the entrance exam of universities, answering 90 percent of the English test will almost guarantee the entrance.
We guide students to achieving such abilities through thorough reading trainings.
The ability to enter universities like Harvard, Princeton and MIT and the ability to pass 1st level English proficiency test (Eiken) can be obtained by reading many essays, text books of modern history, economy, social philosophy, earth science and so forth used in English speaking countries.
We request students to understand as they read, not from the end of the sentence so that they can improve their listening ability.
We believe that “amount” of English leads to “quality and ability” of English.
Concerning contemporary Japanese, we improve understanding of an essay by dialogues asking the meaning of the basic concept and the author’s intent and insight.
By so doing students can also enhance ability to express clearly.
For understanding classics we begin with Taketori Monogatari, Ujishui Monogatari and Ugetsu Monogatari that are attractive to read.
With regard to history, ethics, politics and eonomy, we encourage deep understanding rather than memory work by discussion of basic concepts, cause and effect, what moved the history and why it has worked.
